Here is a general overview of what this group is all about. Failure to read these rules will result in your submission being declined. So please take a few minutes to read up and make sure you're submitting everything in the right place. Go here for a list of folder summaries

#Doctor-Who-Art is a place to display all of your Doctor Who related artwork including pieces from spin-offs such as Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Big Finish Audios, etc. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in by pressing Join the Group on the main page.

:bulletred:Submissions are limited to one per day.

:bulletred:If you have any questions or comments about something you've submitted or you are unclear about the rules. Please DO NOT post on the front wall, send us a note instead.

:bulletred:When submitting to the gallery please submit your own art that is finished, polished, and ready to be featured in the group.

We will NOT accept submissions with the following:
:bulletblack:Promo
:bulletblack:Sketches
:bulletblack:Doodles
:bulletblack:WIP's
:bulletblack:Practice pieces
:bulletblack:Speed Paintings
:bulletblack: Any kind of submissions with comments regarding the quality of the work negatively in the artist comments section as we do pre-screen everything that comes in.

We're looking to feature work that you're proud of and that likewise we'll be happy to have in our ranks.

:bulletred:We also will not accept:
:bulletblack:Fanfiction
:bulletblack:Poorly photographed pieces
:bulletblack:Photomanipulations
(anything created using copyrighted material which is also against dA policy)
:bulletblack:Portraits of the actors outside of their character (as there are other groups on dA better suited for it.)
:bulletblack:Artwork created using bases
:bulletblack:Submissions that ask for people to buy products using copyrighted material on other websites

:bulletred:Please do not submit work that could be considered hateful or sexually suggestive (We are defining "sexually suggestive" as being anything that may suggest that a sexual act has, is about to, or is happening). We're trying to keep this group friendly for all ages as this is a family show.

:bulletred:Members must also refrain from submitting work based on newly aired episodes until at least 3-4 days after the original broadcast date so as to let others have a chance to catch up with the new episodes and not have to worry about having something spoiled when they look in their inboxes.

I think this is silly.

Why? Any group you join will have their own set of rules.

It's just that I don't finish my paintings, and I would count that as a WIP right? But that is how I paint, I use an unpolished style. So I can't post.

How long does it usually take for a piece to be accepted or declined?

I am not entirely sure what constitues a "practice piece" according to these rules, but I suppose that's why my last submission was declined? I consider practically all of my art practice, so that would make it rather hard for me to get anything accepted, lol. Or is there a rule against un-coloured lineart that isn't stated here (if so, then I think it should be)?

The rule refers to deviants that label pieces as something they did to practice, as in art that for the most part will not be finished.

I don't wish to split hairs, but you declined my submission of [link] on the grounds that, according to the comment you sent, you "do not accept photomanipulations" and asked me to read the guidelines. According to these guidelines, your definition of the type of photomanipulation you don't accept is "anything created using copyrighted material which is also against dA policy" - I'd like to say that I do appreciate that, but also that the deviation in question does not conform to that description. There is no material in that image that I did not create myself. The Cybermen in it are not taken from sceencaps or publicity shots from "The Tenth Planet"; they are action figures which I photographed in my own living room. If you had read the artist's comments on the deviation you would know that. Even the PNG of the Cyberman logo I made myself. I appreciate that you as moderators are busy people, and I can't force you to accept my submission, but may I ask that before you decline a submission on the basis of your unfounded assumption that it is unacceptable you check first?

I should clarify that it's "in addition to" and not just of copyrighted material, it's photomanipulations in general. We did read your comments on the deviation, we do so with as many as we can handle, but as you can tell from our gallery we don't accept photomanipulations period.

I'm sorry this has upset you.

I'm not upset, and it's extremely arrogant of you to assume that I'm upset just because I question a decision. My purpose in questioning it was not to vent any frustration but instead to actually seek the very clarification you have now provided. I've elected to leave the group in any case, because I don't feel I benefit from membership in any way.

Thank you.

There's no need to blow that comment out of proportion and accuse me of being arrogant (if anything being quick to throw out insults is rather crude IMHO). I just tried to respond to your inquiry and honestly thought you were upset from the tone of your post.

Good luck in whatever you do in any case. I'm sorry you feel that way
